How to Play Give and Take

To play give and take, you’ll need a standard deck of cards including both Jokers.

Setting Up

  1. All players gather around a table.
  2. Select someone to be the dealer. The dealer also participates in the game.
  3. The dealer hands out four cards to each player, including themselves. These cards should be placed face up.
  4. The dealer sets up two rows of six cards each on the table, laying them face down. The left row is designated for “Truth” and the right row for “Dare”.
    • Each card in the rows, numbered from 1 to 6, corresponds to a specific drinking duration, ranging from 2 to 10 seconds, with the last card typically involving a full beer chug or bong.

The Gameplay

Players take turns flipping a card from either the Truth or Dare rows, alternating between them.

If a player has the card that was flipped, they must choose to either answer a Truth question or perform a Dare, based on the row of the flipped card. The group comes up with the Truth questions and Dare challenges for each turn.

If a player prefers not to do the Truth or Dare, they can opt to drink for the duration assigned to that card.

Truth or Dare Drinking Game Rules

Here are additional rules to follow:

  • Failed Dare: If you fail your dare, you drink half the number of seconds.
  • Doubles: If you have doubles of a card flipped in either row, you can assign other players the drinks and take the truth or dare, or take the drinks yourself and assign the truth or dare to another player.
  • No Card Holder: If no one has the flipped card, everyone drinks for 2 seconds.
  • Mystery Joker: Add a Joker card to the deck.
    • If you have a Joker in your hand, you can switch your Joker with another player’s card. They must now do a dare decided by the group or take a mystery shot prepared by another player. You can do this at any moment, so choose wisely!
    • If you flip a Joker, you must do a dare decided by the group or take a mystery shot.
    • If you flip a Joker and someone else has a Joker, all players chug their drink!
  • Aces as Rules: Aces are used for making drinking rules, then discarded and replaced.
    • If you’re dealt an Ace, you can create a drinking rule.
    • If you flip an Ace, the player with the most cards of the same suit makes a rule.

Drinking rules include:

  1. Pre-Drink Actions: Players must perform certain actions before they take a drink. These actions are decided by the group at the start of the game.
  2. Forbidden Words: The group decides on specific words that are forbidden to say during the game.

If a player forgets to perform the pre-drink action or says a forbidden word, they must take a drink as a penalty.
